Since the launch of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of characters, and a gripping narrative featuring celestial beings, demons, and malevolent powers increasing in strength within the city.
Heads-up: Revealing details for the third episode of the new season follow below.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
Episode 3 concluded with a dramatic pause and presented the initial group of adventurers who will split off from the main group to begin their own adventure, distinct from the remaining groups.
The combat-focused team features the determined fighter (portrayed by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (the cast member), the cleric (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).
Dividing the Cast
Considering 13 cast members, it was evident from the beginning that maintaining everyone at one table would be unfeasible.
Hence, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, weaving together the characters’ stories before splitting into three distinct groups: Warriors, Strategists, and Seekers.
Characteristics of the Warrior Group
Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for players who enjoy a classically intense combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where non-violent answers are scarce.
Initially, characters like the reluctant priest the cleric might look unsuited, but the actions of the third episode make it clear why these particular heroes are best suited for the warrior group.
Motivations for Departure
To begin with, the party has a clear idea where to go next after a violent first encounter with the antagonists.
An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose passing started the story’s plot—exploited the enemy for his selfish purposes, entering the hidden lair, assaulting the rogue, and taking all the magical artifacts to auction.
The traitor then settled his obligations and ran away to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, north of the city, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.
Personal Motivations
Additionally, each member has a personal reason to depart the urban setting:
- The rogue, as the close ally and best friend, wants retribution.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with the region and warns that it is a hostile location.
- The warrior and The cleric, having disobeyed his house’s orders to eliminate the fighter and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
- But, their position as prominent individuals in the influential clan could help the party enter locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Additionally, The fighter vowed a unbreakable promise to The savior for his salvation and will now go with him wherever.
Wanted and Hunted
In addition, all of them are wanted by the rulers that rule Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making remaining behind no longer safe:
- The rogue and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
- The warrior and The healer defied the powerful family and the army of fiends they are allied with.
- Teor is wanted dead by the family.
This results in them little choice but to travel to the remote area in search of the traitor.
Future Episodes
Based on the recent installment’s Cooldown, we learn that the combat party won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight participants to assemble the Questers and Strategists parties.
